Our Office

Individuals and families throughout Ottawa seeking premium orthodontic services are welcome to request a consultation at Stars Orthodontics. We have thoughtfully designed our downtown office to be modern, welcoming, and comfortable for patients of all ages.

By maintaining a smaller practice with Dr. Sharaf's hands-on approach, we ensure up-close and personal follow-ups with each patient as they progress through their orthodontic journey. This personalized attention allows us to monitor progress closely and make adjustments to braces, clear aligners, or other orthodontic appliances as needed.

Our Ottawa orthodontic office features modern dental equipment that provides patients with safe, comfortable treatments. At Stars Orthodontics, we offer:

Digital Impressions using the

ITERO® System

With our advanced iTero scanner, we can capture highly accurate digital impressions of your teeth and jaw structure. This technology provides a welcome digital alternative to traditional tray and alginate impressions, which many perceive as an older and more unpleasant technique that frequently requires multiple rounds to get right.

The iTero scanner ensures precise impressions, resulting in better-fitting braces or clear aligners and a more comfortable patient experience. Digital impressions also allow you to see your teeth instantly in 3D, greatly enhancing communication during your orthodontic consultation and throughout treatment.

Digital Radiography

To ensure that we provide you with a complete assessment at your initial consultation, we require a panoramic x-ray (PAN) of your teeth. If your family dentist has taken one within the past six months, a new x-ray may not be necessary. If a recent x-ray is not available, we may need to take a new PAN to assess the roots of your teeth, any developing teeth or wisdom teeth, the sinuses and jawbone as well as other developing structures that are not visible by visually inspecting the oral cavity. Compared to conventional radiography, digital radiography emits a fraction of the radiation compared to previous technology. At Stars Orthodontics, we utilize digital radiography to ensure that every patient is exposed to the least amount of radiation possible. In addition, digital radiographs can be sent to other dental providers instantly.

Our modern orthodontic care includes:

Initial comprehensive orthodontic assessment personally conducted by Dr. Sharaf — A detailed review of your specific medical/dental history, an exploration of your reasons that prompted you to seek orthodontic treatment, and recommended treatment options will be discussed at our office in-person with Dr. Sharaf.

A confidential evaluation — Our office is committed to handling all aspects of your personal information with the strict privacy and confidentiality.

Punctual, unhurried orthodontic appointments — We understand and appreciate that your time is valuable. Our entire staff will always strive to see you on time and be efficient with your appointments without losing the quality care your expect.

Complementary referral to other dental providers and specialists if your case requires the involvement of more than one provider.

Detailed and timely correspondence with your entrusted family dentist — We will be glad to correspond with the dental practitioner of your choosing. If you do not currently have a family dentist, we will be glad to provide you with a list of dental providers to choose from or refer you to one.

Our office is committed to following the Universal Infection Control practices recommended by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO). Furthermore, our team closely follows all the latest updates and recommendations published by the RCDSO to ensure that we are always using up-to-date infection control practices with all of our patients.

Orthodontic emergencies are of special priority for us. We encourage you to email or call us with any concerns you may have (even if after regular office hours or on the weekend) and one of our office team members will contact you as soon as possible with recommendations for next steps needed to address your concern or to alleviate any symptoms. When we see you for orthodontic emergencies, we will do our best to offer you specific alternatives and recommendations that may prevent or minimize the occurrence of future emergencies.

A detailed nutritional recommendation at the time your treatment starts will ensure that you have nutritional options during your orthodontic treatment.

Regular assessment of your oral hygiene at every visit is recommended. — We will gladly offer you tips and tricks that will help you maintain optimum oral health during the course of your orthodontic treatment. If oral hygiene appears to be lacking, we may at times recommend that you make a visit to your family dentist if abundant plaque or calculus is present. Dr. Sharaf may recommend altering the frequency of your regular cleanings with your family dentist/hygienist if there is clearly a need to do so.

Last but not least, whatever you may have in mind concerning your orthodontic care, we encourage you to share it with any of our team members to make your experience as pleasant as possible. Our friendly and competent Stars team members would love to hear from you, to address your needs and ensure that your visit to our office is a pleasant, comfortable, and beneficial experience.
