First Visit

We look forward to meeting with you on your first visit to our office. Your first orthodontic visit will consist of an examination and discussion of potential treatment options. At this first visit, our goal is to discuss the following:

  • Need for orthodontic treatment

  • Optimal treatment timing

  • Various treatment options if available

  • Estimated fees

  • Payment options

  • Estimated duration of treatment

  • We encourage questions from both the patient and the parent. We provide ample time to answer any and all questions you may have.

Many young children do not know what to expect during their first visit to the orthodontist. They are often worried that they may get “the needle”. It is helpful to assure your child that we do not administer “needles” at our office and that we will only conduct an exam to “count the teeth” and “check the bite”. It is also important to know that, as it is with other orthodontic offices, we do not provide patients with “surprise treatments” that the patient is not aware of and not consenting to. Our approach is first telling all young children about anything we intend to do, showing them the dental setup in order for them to feel comfortable, before actually doing it!

Virtual Consultation

At Stars Orthodontics, we believe an in-person clinical evaluation, complete with detailed digital imaging and a hands-on examination, is always the gold standard for starting your orthodontic care. However, we understand that unique circumstances, mobility constraints, or scheduling challenges may prevent some patients from visiting our downtown Ottawa clinic right away.

To ensure orthodontic care remains accessible, we offer virtual consultations on a case-by-case basis for individuals who require special accommodations.

How the Virtual Process Works:

  • Submit Your Request: Email our team at info@starsortho.ca or use our Contact Us form to request a virtual evaluation for yourself or your child. Please include the patient's full name, date of birth, your family dentist's name, and a brief note explaining your need for a virtual appointment.

  • Capture 8 Simple Photos: We will send you a quick instructional video showing how to easily capture eight (8) clear photos of your smile and bite using your smartphone.

  • Specialist Review: Once you submit your photos, Dr. Sharaf will thoroughly review your records to assess your orthodontic needs and determine if a virtual consultation is appropriate for your case.

  • Schedule & Connect: Our team will contact you to coordinate your virtual appointment time and send our standard virtual consent form for online signature prior to the visit.

While a virtual consultation provides a helpful starting point to discuss your goals and treatment options, please note that an in-person visit will ultimately be required prior to beginning any active orthodontic treatment.
